The three UV tubes and the timer provide for total sterilisation of the material inside the chamber and on the entire working surface, preventing a potential cross-contamination of DNA and ARN samples which may result in false-positive test results. The 4 mm thick hardened glass acts as a filter for the UV radiation and protects the operator as well as the environment. If the front door is opened accidentally, the UV lamps are switched off automatically to ensure complete protection for the operator.
